Shadow of the Beast is a platform game that was released for the Amiga in 1989, and ported to a variety of platforms since, including the ZX Spectrum, Atari Lynx and Mega Drive. The game was most recently remade for the PlayStation 4 in 2016.
Now Intellivision and Atari 2600 owners might be getting in on the action. Two coders are independently creating unofficial ports of the game for the seventies consoles.
Legacy of the Beast is a ‘demake’ of the game for Atari 2600 by Icelandic coder, Michael Christophersson, who says “Written entirely in 6502 Assembly, the intention was to deconstruct yet remain as faithful to the original as technically possible given the capabilities of a system originally released in 1977.”
The Intellivision demake is being coded by skywaffle from the AtariAge forums.
