Not the usual retrogaming fare, but I'd highly recommend checking out what's going on over at cyber1:

This group is preserving and offering access to PLATO software. PLATO was an educational project in the 60s and 70s that ended up creating networked graphics workstations. It also ended up spawning some of the first online multiplayer games. Titles range from a pretty good implementation of mahjong, to "3D FPS" games, to virtual multiplayer D&D adventures. Definitely worth checking out.

The only barrier to entry right now is that you need an account on cyber1. You can fill out a form on their website and the admins will let you in.

Future War is really fun. It's thematically similar to DOOM, you are in first person view traversing some type of installation fighting monsters. Pedit5 and moria are D&D games that are pretty fun. Empire always looks fun, but I think you need a lot of simultaneous players for it to be interesting. There is a big menu of games once you login, so plenty to choose from.

I also just like the PLATO version of Mahjong, but I usually like old Mahjong games.

Maybe there's a way of picking a time and date and announcing it beforehand, perhaps on your podcast, and get enough people involved? Happy to retweet and post about it too, (and of course join, timezone permitting!)
