Eric Scrivner has created a game inspired by River Raid called River Run for Panic’s handheld, Playdate. River Raid is a classic vertical-scrolling shooter developed by Carol Shaw and published by Activision in 1982 for the Atari 2600. Players control a fighter jet navigating through a river canyon filled with enemy helicopters, jets, and ships, Playdate gets its own version of classic Activision game, in River Run

TI-99/4a gets a version of the Activision classic, H.E.R.O.

SteveB and Grammostola on the Atari Age forums have created a version of Activision’s 8-bit classic, H.E.R.O. for the TI-99/4a. H.E.R.O. (Helicopter Emergency Rescue Operation) is an action game that was originally released in 1984 action game by Activision for the Atari 2600. Players take on the role of Roderick Hero, a rescue worker saving TI-99/4a gets a version of the Activision classic, H.E.R.O.

Speedball set for reboot on Steam

The Bitmap Brothers classic game, Speedball, is set for a reboot on Steam, and the game is currently available as part of Steam’s early access programme. Playdate Dock release seems unlikely to be released in the near future

The much-anticipated Playdate dock, a stylish accessory for Panic Inc.’s quirky handheld gaming console, may not be coming out anytime soon. Despite its initial announcement in 2021, Panic co-founder Cabel Sasser recently acknowledged the challenges surrounding its production.
