TI-99/4a gets a version of the Activision classic, H.E.R.O.

SteveB and Grammostola on the Atari Age forums have created a version of Activision’s 8-bit classic, H.E.R.O. for the TI-99/4a.

H.E.R.O. (Helicopter Emergency Rescue Operation) is an action game that was originally released in 1984 action game by Activision for the Atari 2600. Players take on the role of Roderick Hero, a rescue worker saving trapped miners. The game was later ported to other Atari platforms as well as the C64 and Apple II.

The devs say,

“The game module T.E.R.O..bin contains 10 Levels with multiple screens. There are some additions to the old game that inspired this one. There are keys and doors, small deadly scorpions and medi-packs to refill your energy.

There are also adaptions of the original 20 levels from the eighties on a supplied disk, both as disk-image and a FIAD directory. The game requires 32k and is best played with a joystick.”

The developers have also created a Windows-based level editor so you create your own levels.
