BBG Entertainment to launch Boulder Dash 40th Anniversary game

BBG Entertainment, the current owners of Boulder Dash, are launching a new title celebrating the anniversary of the classic game. The game is set for release in Q1 2025 on PC, Mac, Switch, Playstation and Xbox. As well as new levels, the game also features all the levels from the original Boulder Dash I,II and III versions.

Boulder Dash was originally developed by Peter Liepa with Chris Gray, and released in 1984 for the Atari 8-bit computer. The game challenges players to navigate underground caves, collecting gems while avoiding falling rocks, enemy creatures, and other hazards. The game quickly became popular and was subsequently ported to numerous platforms, including the Commodore 64, Apple II, and various consoles, as well as inspiring multiple clones such as Repton and Icicle Works.
