Portable Electronic Game
“Portable electronic games were most popular in the late seventies and eighties. Probably amongst the most well-known portable electronic games are MB’s Simon, Parker Brother’s Merlin, and the Nintendo’s Game & Watch series. The display on the games vary from simple LED lights, LCD display’s (like a modern calculator) or VFD (vacuum fluorescent display).
A brief comeback was enjoyed in the mid-nineties with Bandai’s Tamagotchi.

## Emul
Due to their nature, most portable electronic games cannot be emulated in the traditional sense, and so are simulated with recreations of the games. MAME has since 2017 begun including various handhelds, including many from Nintendo Game & Watch, Tiger Electronics, Gakken, Coleco, Epoch and more
