Roland Ahoy! allows player navigating a pirate ship on a map of the ocean in order to reach the Golden Harbour and the Treasure Cave, while avoiding the sea monster and other numerous deadly obstacles, such as mines, spiders or fire balls. Before reaching the Golden Harbour it is necessary sailing to Powder Quay and collect cannon balls in order to destroy the boom protecting harbour entrance. All land missions are played on a 2D platform board, where Roland must avoid various traps collect the items (treasure, ammunition) and return safely to the ship. Roland has 4 lives. After loosing a life, the boom is rebuilt, but the ammunition and treasure stored on the ship remain intact.
