Back in 1993, Plus/4 coders Tamás Sasvári and Csaba Kémeri attempted to create a port of iconic puzzle game, Lemmings, to the Commodore Plus/4. Sadly the game was never finished, and the source code was eventually lost due to disk errors.
However, in 2020, Games That Weren’t, reported that the remaining files of the game were to be released. And we thought that was the end of it. But no!
Last week at the 24th Árok Party, which took place in Ajka, Sasvári presented his long rumoured conversion of the game, rebuilt from scratch.
The game appears to have levels from Fun, Tricky and Taxing, but no Mayhem. I’m certainly looking forward to shoving this on my SD2IEC and trying it out on real hardware!
Lemmings was originally developed by DMA Design and first released in 1991. The game quickly gained popularity for its unique and challenging gameplay, which required players to guide a group of lemmings through various obstacles to reach the end of each level. The game was released on over 30 platforms, including the Amiga, Atari ST, PC, and Super Nintendo Entertainment System.
