In Net Yaroze Month, we are playing every Net Yaroze game featured on the UK Official Playstation Magazine, and ranking them all in the order we liked them. You may have other opinions as to the ranking, which is awesome.

To learn more about Net Yaroze, read our introductory article here.

Terra Incognita is a bit of a poster-child for the Net Yaroze. An ambitious arcade-adventure / RPG, which looks far from home-made.

You start off on a boat, where your shipmate is trying to talk you out of going to the island to find the Golden Pedestal. Apparently is is protected by a “horrable monster”. (The English translation in this game isn’t overly great, however, I’m going to let it slide as it’s not a professional game, and it’s a lot better than my Japanese). Your pal isn’t going to come with you, and wants you to go by yourself, as he’s not keen on this idea.

So you leave him on the ship, with him threatening to sail off if you’re not back by sunset. Rude much?

Once on the island, various sign posts give you hints about the game, including how to move crates about, and how you can put crates on the aforementioned sign to climb to a higher level.

The game a split into many small areas, and there’s normally a puzzle to solve, such as pushing a block on a button to reveal a platform, before you can reach the exit to go on to the next puzzle.

Terra Incognita is hightly polished for a Net Yaroze game, and if you like action adventure games then certainly seek this out.
