In Net Yaroze Month, we are playing every Net Yaroze game featured on the UK Official Playstation Magazine, and ranking them all in the order we liked them. You may have other opinions as to the ranking, which is awesome.
To learn more about Net Yaroze, read our introductory article here.
Between the Eyes is a racing game that looks and sounds amazing. The trippy visuals and the dance sound track are a feast for the eyes and ears. It’s just a pain in the bum to control.
In the game you are racing down a tube which has many twists and turns. However, there’s no way of knowing when a turn is going to come up so much of the game is spent crashing into walls. A map would have been helpful or even arrows to signify an upcoming bend.
You do have the option to view all of the whopping 64 tracks from the menu screen though, so you don’t go in completely blind.
As well as 64 tracks, the game offers one and two-player split screen mode – so there is plenty to keep you going if this is your kind of thing. Sadly, it’s not mine.
